COLLEGE FRIENDSHIPS

My purpose for this research project is to collect students socializing habits and provide insight as to how friends impact our lives. In addition, express how friendships vary from person to person. This study involved college students at SUNY New Paltz students across different majors, and living situations. I seek to answer the research question: How do individuals build close relationships with others during their college years and what are the factors that contribute to forming the relationships?

My process

I used two methods of research in my project Method 1: Survey results, and Method 2: Self-report journal. I set up a qualtrics online survey where I received a total of 21 responses. The results were visualized from qualtrics, tableau and illustrator. For my second method of research, I distributed a self-report journal to Suny New Paltz students. This journal seeks to answer the question: Who do students interact with on a daily basis and how does it make them feel? The self-report journal was split into four categories for participants to fill out over a course of 3 days. You can read the full report here.
